Shop Owner
Jon Walls
I was raised in small-town Mississippi, where hard work wasn’t optional — it was just part of daily life. My childhood revolved around three places that shaped who I am today: my father’s body shop, my uncle’s car lot, and the neighbor’s farm where I learned the kind of resourcefulness you don’t get from books.
In my dad’s shop, I learned precision—how to straighten metal, prep surfaces, weld, build, clean, and bring worn-out things back to life. At my uncle’s car lot, I learned how vehicles really behave, quirks and all, and how to maintain them properly. On the neighbor’s farm, I learned resilience, creativity, and how to make things work with the tools and parts already on hand. Together, those experiences taught me to work hard, solve problems honestly, and take pride in doing things the right way.
Those early years built the foundation for everything that came next:
Fix what can be fixed. Build what doesn’t exist. Always keep learning. Work Hard.
I carried that into school, earning a degree in Robotics and Automated Systems, then a bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering Technology from the University of Southern Mississippi. From there, I began a long career with a Fortune 500 company, working in roles that demanded accuracy, discipline, and deep technical understanding: quality control inspection, reliability engineering, solids handling, and later maintenance leadership and advisory work.
But the part of my story I’m proudest of has always been my family. I’m a devoted husband and father to four sons, and so much of Walls Workshop grew out of life at home — teaching my boys how to build, solve problems, and create things with their own hands just like I was taught growing up.
Being a homeowner only strengthened those roots. Instead of hiring out work, I spent years building custom furniture, adding rooms and storage spaces, renovating kitchens, remodeling closets, and designing cabinetry and built-ins that actually fit the way a family lives. Every project sharpened my skills, expanded what I could do, and reinforced my belief that good craftsmanship doesn’t just make a house better — it makes a home feel like your own.
Today, Walls Workshop is all of that blended together: Mississippi roots, family values, hands-on craftsmanship, engineering discipline, decades of industrial experience, and the creativity that comes from building and improving my own home over the years.
If it needs to be built, repaired, customized, improved, or simply figured out, I’m your guy — capable, handy, cost-conscious, and always learning.
